Peru Earthquake, June 24, 2001

Last Saturday, June 24, 2001, a 7.9 earthquake hit southern Peru, leaving 1000 injured and approximately 121 dead.

After contacting the President's office, they told us no rescue was needed because most of the houses were single stories, but tents and medicines were needed badly, so the His Glory team charged hell with a water pistol, as they sent one volunteer to set up a supply line by air for emergency supplies [tents and medicines] for only the most remote locations in the mountain areas.

The supplies were hand delivered, as are all His Glory aid. They where met by the civil defenseman and flown to Aerequipa by cargo plane. The supplies were created by His Glory Peru team.

Next, the general of Air Force helped to fly supplies and our team to a remote mountain location in Chiebamba. There, tents and medicines where received and dispersed immediately. Tents went to the children and medicines to the infirmary at the mission ran by Padre Daniel Garcia.

The tents we sent are small enough for a 4 year old to carry on back to her family in the small outlying villages. Parents have been busy making food the best they can during the day, leaving the kids to hike down cratered trails to the mission at Chiebamba. These tents sleep 4 to5 people and are the only way remote villages will get relief fast. Without these supplies, epidemics will break out creating a need for 1000s of volunteers to travel to every village.

Help can't wait! Our team is the only group to establish this route. No other outside groups are helping at this time. One would think a simple disbursement of emergency supplies would not be very dangerous, however the helicopter we were suppose to have flown the day before crashed. Three were killed and two were critically injured. Lets remember those families in prayer!

Thank God, He put us with the General, who personally flew the team and insured our save return to Lima. At this time we are receiving donations for more tents and medicines, however no donations have been received after our team's return. Without these supplies, the mountain people will remain without shelter and epidemics will brake out. The team has already been asked to go to stand by alert by the chief of Civil Defense in Arequpia, so we are ready to dispatch our infectious disease doctor as soon as Colin Powel returns to expedite imigration papers. Keep that in prayer also.

Special thanks to First Christian Church Lufkin Texas, Commander Arbocco and the Minister of Transportation, the Peruvian president Valenti Paniagua, Mayor Juan Manuel Guillen, General Rousi, Cornel Chavarri, Doctor General Juan Jose Alvarez Torres, the Captain of Bomberos Aerequipa Central, Director Aristedes Mussio, television coordinator Cecila Bustamante, Continental Airlines, His Glory correspondent and translator Carlos Juan.

WITHOUT IMMEDIATE DONATIONS, THESE CHILDREN COULD PERISH! OUR SUPPLY LINES ARE NOW ESTABLISHED, UNDER MILITARY PROTECTION, AND ALL SUPPLIES ARE INSURED TO BE HAND DELIVERED TO THOSE REMOTE SITES IN DESPERATE NEED.

God have mercy on anyone who does not respond to His children's cries. "And whoever wil receive one such little child in my name receives me. But whoever offends one of these little ones which believes in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:5 & 6

To not respond with a donation now will be harming them. THE WAY FOR EVIL TO PREVAIL IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS.
